Use the 3D embossing folder to create a textured tree design on decorative paper, then highlight the raised areas with white ink pad to reveal the beautiful detail. The embossing creates instant dimension without stamping or colouring.

Step by step

Select the naked tree embossing folder and a piece of patterned paper. ▶ watch 42:45
Place the paper inside the embossing folder, positioning the tree design where you want it on your card. ▶ watch 43:00
Run the folder and paper through your die-cutting machine to create the 3D embossed impression. ▶ watch 43:15
Remove the paper from the folder and inspect the raised embossed detail. ▶ watch 43:30
Tap a white ink pad directly onto the raised areas of the embossed design. ▶ watch 44:00
Rub the ink pad gently across the embossed surface to highlight the texture and bring out the detail. ▶ watch 44:15
Allow the ink to dry completely. ▶ watch 44:45
Optional: apply clear embossing powder over the white ink and heat set for a glossy, frosty finish. ▶ watch 45:00
Mount the finished panel onto a card blank. ▶ watch 45:30

Tips from the show

You can change the formation of the embossing by moving the folder around on the card stock to create different placements.
A light-coloured ink pad works best for highlighting; white is traditional but pale pink or other light colours can work too.
The 3D embossing folders work beautifully with patterned papers you already have in your stash.
