You Are So Lovely Woodland Aperture Card with Fussy-Cut Animals

Make a layered card featuring the woodland aperture die with a fussy-cut rabbit and floral embellishments positioned behind the shaped window. The card creates a scenic vignette with dimension and movement.

Step by step

1. Cut the aperture die into white card stock to create your shaped window with tree silhouette. ▶ watch 27:00
2. Select a piece of patterned paper with a woodland or house design and position it behind the aperture opening. ▶ watch 28:45
3. Fussy cut a rabbit from the embellishment pack, leaving it attached to some greenery if possible. ▶ watch 30:00
4. Fussy cut several flowers and leaf sprigs from the embellishment pack to create a small bouquet arrangement. ▶ watch 31:15
5. Arrange the fussy-cut pieces on your card, positioning the rabbit and flowers to create a natural scene visible through the aperture. ▶ watch 32:00
6. Glue the patterned paper backing to the card base, securing your scene behind the aperture. ▶ watch 33:00
7. Glue the fussy-cut rabbit and flowers in place, layering them to create depth. ▶ watch 33:30
8. Stamp a sentiment from the stamp set onto a banner and glue it to the bottom of the card. ▶ watch 34:00

Tips from the show

• If your fussy cutting leaves white edges on the embellishments, use a blending brush to blend them out so they're not visible.
• Don't be too precious about fussy cutting—slight imperfections blend away easily with a blending brush.
• Pinch and mould your flat fussy-cut pieces slightly to give them a little dimension before gluing them down.
