Step by step

  1. Gather four pieces of card stock in graduated colours, ranging from light to dark (for example, light pink through to deep purple or light grey through to dark grey). ▶ watch 29:30
  2. Ink up the large poppy stamp with black ink. ▶ watch 30:00
  3. Stamp the poppy onto the top portion of each piece of card stock, keeping the stamp in the same position for all four pieces. ▶ watch 30:15
  4. Stamp a sentiment below the poppy on each piece, using the same position for consistency. ▶ watch 30:45
  5. Using your guillotine, cut all four stamped pieces into one-inch strips. ▶ watch 31:00
  6. Arrange the strips in colour order, from lightest to darkest, to create your ombré sequence. ▶ watch 31:30
  7. Take a black card base and begin adhering the strips from top to bottom in your chosen colour order. ▶ watch 32:00
  8. Ensure each strip is lined up so the poppy design appears continuous across the colour gradient. ▶ watch 32:30
  9. Continue adding strips, alternating between your four colours to create the ombré effect. ▶ watch 33:00
  10. Trim the assembled card to create clean, straight edges. ▶ watch 33:30
  11. Use a white gel pen to add highlights and detail to the poppy, which will dry back slightly lighter. ▶ watch 34:00
  12. Adhere the finished ombré piece to a card blank to complete your card. ▶ watch 34:30
