Monochromatic Black and White Segmented Card

Create a bold monochromatic card by stamping the same poppy design repeatedly onto white card stock, then cutting and reassembling the pieces to create a striking black-on-white effect with a painterly quality.

Step by step

  1. Prepare multiple pieces of white card stock. ▶ watch 24:00
  2. Ink up the large poppy stamp with black ink. ▶ watch 24:15
  3. Stamp the poppy onto each piece of white card stock in the same position, without moving the stamp between stampings. ▶ watch 24:30
  4. Cut the stamped white pieces into thin horizontal strips using your guillotine. ▶ watch 25:00
  5. Arrange the strips in order on a black card base, aligning the poppy design so it appears continuous. ▶ watch 25:30
  6. Adhere each strip carefully, matching the design across the segments. ▶ watch 26:00
  7. Trim the assembled card to create clean edges. ▶ watch 26:30
  8. Add a sentiment stamp in black ink to complete the design. ▶ watch 27:00
