Horizontal Striped Paper Pieced Card

Transform your stamped poppy cards into a striking horizontal striped design by cutting them into thin strips and reassembling them on a card blank. The stamped poppy aligns perfectly across the strips to create a seamless, segmented effect.

Step by step

1. Take your four stamped poppy pieces on different coloured card stock. ▶ watch 19:30
2. Using a guillotine, cut thin horizontal strips from each stamped piece, keeping the strips roughly the same width. ▶ watch 20:00
3. Arrange the strips in order, deciding whether to go from light to dark or in a specific colour sequence. ▶ watch 20:30
4. Take a card blank and apply the first strip along the top edge, aligning the stamped design carefully. ▶ watch 21:00
5. Apply the second strip directly below, matching the poppy design so it appears continuous across the strips. ▶ watch 21:30
6. Continue adding strips in your chosen order, ensuring each design element lines up perfectly. ▶ watch 22:00
7. Trim the card down to a neat size using your guillotine, creating clean edges around the striped design. ▶ watch 22:30
8. Stamp a sentiment from the set onto the card in black ink. ▶ watch 23:00
9. Adhere the finished design to a card blank to complete your card. ▶ watch 23:30

Tips from the show

• Line the pieces of card back up like a jigsaw to ensure the design matches perfectly across strips.
• You can cut the strips at different angles or widths for variety, but straight cuts are simplest.
• Save all leftover pieces—they can be paper pieced together to create additional cards.
