Watercolour Embossed Tree Card with Spray Technique

Create a soft, blended watercolour effect by inking an embossing folder with a light colour, spraying it with water, and running it through your machine to produce a dreamy, organic card background.

Step by step

  1. Ink up the tree embossing folder with a light colour ink pad, tapping both sides to ensure good coverage. ▶ watch 1:01:30
  2. Spray the inked embossing folder lightly with water to create a wet, blended effect. ▶ watch 1:01:45
  3. Place your card stock onto the wet, inked folder and run it through your embossing machine. ▶ watch 1:02:00
  4. Remove the card and use a tissue or your finger to soften any harsh edges or bleeding ink lines. ▶ watch 1:02:30
  5. Once the card is dry, stamp the tree design onto the watercoloured background using black pigment ink. ▶ watch 1:06:00
  6. Stamp the tree multiple times if needed to build up the colour, as the card may still be slightly damp from the spray. ▶ watch 1:08:00
