Step by step

  1. Prepare a white or cream card blank as your base. ▶ watch 40:15
  2. Select stencil number one and align it with the edge of your card, checking that the number is visible on the correct side. ▶ watch 40:30
  3. Choose a dye-based ink colour (such as purple) and tap it lightly through the stencil using a sponge or brush. ▶ watch 40:45
  4. Apply stencil number two in the same position and add more colour, pressing slightly harder to build depth. ▶ watch 41:00
  5. Continue with stencils three, four and five, gradually increasing the pressure and colour intensity with each layer. ▶ watch 41:30
  6. For the final layer, press firmly to create the darkest, most defined areas of the design. ▶ watch 42:00
  7. If desired, add a contrasting colour (such as green) to the leaves or stems using the same stencil system. ▶ watch 42:30
  8. Allow the card to dry completely before removing the stencils. ▶ watch 43:00
  9. Optional: spray the finished design lightly with water to create an ethereal, blended effect for artistic variation. ▶ watch 43:30
