ATC Box with Magnetic Closure

Create an elegant storage box for Artist Trading Cards with a magnetic closure. This decorative box features alternating black and natural wood striped panels with curved side supports. The project uses MDF components that slot together, finished with a magnetic clasp for secure closure.

Step by step

1. Remove all pieces from the flat pack kit. Take out the MDF box components with their protective backing, the circular ATC piece, and the black magnetic strips from the seams. ▶ watch 32:00

   Apply adhesive to the seams of the MDF base piece where the sides will connect. Position the base piece with the three circular magnets visible at the bottom edge and ensure all edges are aligned properly.

   Apply the self-adhesive magnetic strips to the inside of the box lid. Ensure the strips are positioned so they will attract the corresponding magnets on the box base when closed.

4. 

   Apply tape over the magnets on the striped panel to secure them in place. Ensure the tape covers each magnet completely to prevent them from coming loose. Press firmly to adhere the tape to the panel.

5. Decorate the exterior of the box using decorative papers. Apply the papers to the surfaces, ensuring they align with the seams and edges of the box structure. ▶ watch 33:45

7. 

   Place your finished ATCs inside the wooden box. Close the lid, allowing the magnets to secure it shut.
