Spotlight 3D Embossed Card with Rainbow Halo

Create a striking card by embossing white cardstock with a 3D embossing folder, then use an aperture to create a rainbow halo effect around the embossed design. The result is a beautifully layered card with coloured highlights on the raised embossing.

Step by step

1. Pop white cardstock into your die-cutting machine with the Into the Forest 3D embossing folder. ▶ watch 17:45
2. Run the cardstock through the machine to create the embossed leaf design. ▶ watch 18:00
3. Place a circular aperture die or template over the embossed cardstock to define your focal area. ▶ watch 19:45
4. Using a pink ink pad, brush colour around the exterior of the aperture in a halo effect. ▶ watch 20:00
5. Swap to an orange ink pad and continue building the rainbow effect around the aperture. ▶ watch 20:30
6. Add yellow and then green ink, building up the rainbow halo gradually. ▶ watch 20:45
7. Using a fine brush and gold confetti ink, carefully paint the raised leaf details within the aperture centre. ▶ watch 22:30
8. Mount the embossed panel onto a white card base using adhesive. ▶ watch 24:00
9. Add a Quattro D embellishment to the side of the card for extra dimension and a gold halo effect. ▶ watch 24:15
10. Attach foam pads behind the embellishment to create lift and complete the card. ▶ watch 26:00

Tips from the show

• The rise on 3D embossing folders is high enough that you can paint directly into the raised and recessed areas with a fine brush.
• Take your time with the colouring process; keep layering and adding colour until you love the result.
• You can use embossing folders for backgrounds without adding any colour on top—the texture alone fills white space beautifully.
