Inked Embossing Folder Background with Water Spray

Ink directly onto an embossing folder using multiple ink pads, then run cardstock through to create a colourful, textured background. Add water spray for extra texture variation.

Step by step

1. Cut white cardstock to fit your embossing folder size. ▶ watch 25:30
2. Open your embossing folder and rub pink and orange ink pads over the raised areas. ▶ watch 26:15
3. Apply the ink pads in random patterns or lines across the embossing folder surface. ▶ watch 27:00
4. Spray water lightly onto the inked embossing folder to create additional texture. ▶ watch 27:30
5. Place your white cardstock inside the embossing folder. ▶ watch 28:00
6. Run the folder through your die-cutting machine to emboss and transfer the inked colour. ▶ watch 28:15
7. Remove the cardstock and allow it to dry completely. ▶ watch 29:00
8. Apply gilding wax to the raised embossed areas to add metallic highlights. ▶ watch 29:45

Tips from the show

• You can use any colours from your ink pad stash for this technique.
• Spraying water on the inked folder creates bubble-wrap-like texture effects.
• Mixing techniques by combining inking and gilding wax creates unique, layered results.
