Step by step

  1. Apply a thick consistency of purple or chocolate confetti ink directly onto white watercolour card. ▶ watch 45:00
  2. Wet your brush thoroughly with clean water and touch it to the wet paint to allow the colour to bloom and spread. ▶ watch 45:30
  3. Let the water carry the ink outward naturally, creating soft, diffused edges without overworking the paint. ▶ watch 46:00
  4. Add more concentrated colour to the wet area while it is still damp to build depth and intensity. ▶ watch 46:30
  5. Paint a series of curved C-shapes in the centre to suggest rose petals, layering them loosely. ▶ watch 48:00
  6. Use a clean, wet brush to connect the C-shapes by pulling water through them, allowing the paint to blend and form petal shapes. ▶ watch 49:00
  7. Paint large green leaves using the toe-belly-toe technique around the flower base. ▶ watch 49:45
  8. Add gold splats or accent marks to enhance the flower once the base is dry. ▶ watch 50:30
