Framed Bird Stamp Card with Torn Vellum Wrap

An elegant card featuring a bird stamp positioned within a decorative frame cut from the painted mounts, wrapped with a torn embossed vellum strip in teal. The design combines the fussy-cut frame with a stamped focal point and dimensional vellum accent.

Step by step

1. Cut a 6 by 8 card blank down slightly to make it thinner. ▶ watch 36:30
2. Cut out the decorative frame from one of the painted mounts. ▶ watch 36:45
3. Ink up the bird stamp with black ink. ▶ watch 37:15
4. Stamp the bird carefully within the frame area, ensuring it sits centred in the opening. ▶ watch 37:45
5. Take a strip of embossed teal vellum (previously run through an embossing folder) and tear it to create a rough edge. ▶ watch 38:15
6. Wrap the torn vellum strip around the card as a belly band. ▶ watch 40:30
7. Secure the vellum at the back using a tape pen. ▶ watch 40:45
8. Colour a second bird stamp in teal and adhere it to the front of the card using foam dots for dimension. ▶ watch 41:15
9. Add a sentiment strip such as 'I simply adore you' to complete the card. ▶ watch 41:45

Tips from the show

• Do not cut into the pretty painted mount designs; instead, cut the card blank to fit the mount.
• Torn vellum edges add a vintage, organic feel to the design.
• The vellum from embossing folders is too beautiful to discard and can be repurposed as wrapping elements.
