Embossed Vellum Card with Gold Wax and Belly Band

A sophisticated card featuring teal vellum embossed with a tulip design and finished with gold wax, layered with a painted mount as a belly band and decorated with swing tags. The result is an elegant vintage-feel card with interactive elements.

Step by step

1. Take a sheet of teal vellum from the collection and insert it into your embossing machine. ▶ watch 7:15
2. Run the vellum through the machine with the tulip embossing folder to create the raised design. ▶ watch 7:30
3. Apply gold wax across the embossed detail to make the texture shimmer and stand out. ▶ watch 9:30
4. Adhere the embossed vellum to a gray card blank using a tape pen. ▶ watch 11:15
5. Cut away sections from one of the painted mounts from the left and right edges to create a border panel. ▶ watch 11:45
6. Position the mount panel as a belly band across the card, securing it only at the sides to allow tags to tuck behind. ▶ watch 12:00
7. Tuck pre-made swing tags behind the belly band. ▶ watch 12:15
8. Add a washi tape tab with a sentiment such as 'good luck' near the base of the card. ▶ watch 12:30

Tips from the show

• When using vellum, always use a tape pen as it is the only adhesive that works without showing.
• The embossing folders work through any standard machine without forcing anything.
• You can use the reverse (deboss) side of the embossed piece if you prefer that look.
