Step by step

  1. Take your first piece of card and position stencil number one in the top corner, lining it up with the edge. ▶ watch 38:30
  2. Apply light ink through stencil one using a brush, working loosely and not worrying about patchy coverage as layers will build on top. ▶ watch 39:00
  3. Position stencil number two, lining it up with the card edge, and apply a different colour through it to build definition between layers. ▶ watch 39:30
  4. Continue with stencils three, four and five in sequence, changing colours and pressing slightly harder with each layer to add depth. ▶ watch 40:00
  5. Use the splat stencil, positioning it randomly across the card and applying ink through it to add artistic texture. ▶ watch 40:30
  6. Move the splat stencil to different positions and add more splats as desired for additional texture and interest. ▶ watch 41:00
  7. Stamp the large poppy stamp in black ink onto the layered background, positioning it to complement the stencilled layers. ▶ watch 44:45
  8. Optional: enhance the card by adding white splats with a paintbrush and white ink pad for extra artistic detail. ▶ watch 49:30
