Magnolia Square Stencil Card

Create a beautiful square card featuring a magnolia flower using five numbered layering stencils. This project demonstrates the same stencil system as the hydrangea but with a different floral design and square format.

Step by step

1. Take a square card blank and line up stencil number one with the edge or position it in the centre as desired. ▶ watch 1:12:00
2. Apply your first ink colour (such as teal) through stencil number one using a sponge or brush. ▶ watch 1:12:30
3. Remove stencil one and position stencil number two, then apply a second ink colour to build the flower shape. ▶ watch 1:13:00
4. Continue with stencils three and four, varying your pressure and colour intensity to create depth and dimension. ▶ watch 1:13:30
5. Apply stencil number five with a contrasting colour (such as pink) to add accent details like a halo effect around the flower. ▶ watch 1:14:30
6. Use the coordinating magnolia die to cut out the detailed flower shape, which adds further detail to your design. ▶ watch 1:15:00
7. Cut out the 'just for you' sentiment words using the coordinating word dies. ▶ watch 1:15:30
8. Layer your magnolia die-cut, sentiment, and any background elements onto your card base using foam pads. ▶ watch 1:16:00

Tips from the show

• Start with light ink application and build up darker tones gradually for better control.
• You can position the stencils in the corner, centre, or anywhere on the card—there are no rules.
• Consider using the glitter paste inks through the final stencil layer for added sparkle and dimension.
