Interactive 3D Gnome Character Card with Layered Tree

Create a charming interactive card featuring a gnome character with a 3D tree that has moveable pigtails and layered elements. The die-cutting creates dimensional details that make the card pop off the page with texture and depth.

Step by step

1. Stamp the gnome character onto watercolour card using black ink. ▶ watch 36:45
2. Colour the gnome with watercolours, adding lighter green at the bottom and darker green at the top of the hat to create dimension. ▶ watch 37:15
3. Add red watercolour to the gnome's hat and white to the beard. ▶ watch 37:45
4. Apply sparkly blue embossing powder over the stamped image. ▶ watch 38:00
5. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun. ▶ watch 38:15
6. Die-cut the gnome character using the coordinating die set. ▶ watch 38:30
7. Add white crayon colour to the gnome's cheeks and circles to enhance the design. ▶ watch 39:00
8. Mount the die-cut gnome onto a card base with a patterned paper background. ▶ watch 39:30
9. Apply colourless glitter using clear glue to add sparkle and texture to the card. ▶ watch 40:00

Tips from the show

• You don't have to be precious with colouring; you can go over the embossing as it's now secure.
• Lighter colour at the bottom and darker at the top of the hat helps it lift and look 3D even when flat.
• The die-cut creates interactive elements like moveable pigtails that add playfulness to the card.
