Embossed Snowflake Vellum Overlay Card

Create an elegant card with a corrugated background and embossed vellum overlay. The Superb Snowflakes stencil is used to add embossed detail to vellum, which is then layered over a stamped house image for a misty, sophisticated effect.

Step by step

1. Stamp the house image onto cardstock and colour it using navy blue and teal tones. ▶ watch 48:15
2. Add 3D gel gloss and sparkle to the stamped house for extra dimension. ▶ watch 48:45
3. Create a corrugated background by spraying ink through corrugated cardboard onto your base card. ▶ watch 49:00
4. Adhere the coloured house image to the corrugated background using foam pads. ▶ watch 49:30
5. Ink a piece of vellum with embossing ink. ▶ watch 50:00
6. Place the Superb Snowflakes stencil on the inked vellum and stamp through it with embossing ink. ▶ watch 50:15
7. Sprinkle 3D silver embossing powder over the embossed areas on the vellum. ▶ watch 50:30
8. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat tool until it melts and becomes shiny. ▶ watch 50:45
9. Ink through the Pretty Poinsettia stencil around the edges of the card using black ink. ▶ watch 51:15
10. Adhere the embossed vellum overlay to the front of the card using foam pads or tape runner. ▶ watch 51:45

Tips from the show

• Use good quality vellum or parchment as cheaper versions will crack or shrink when heated.
• Cherry-pick certain pieces from the stencil rather than using the whole design for a more subtle effect.
