Banner-Topped Card with Layered Sentiment

Create a striking card by layering banner-shaped pieces cut from your coloured floral panels at varying heights, then adding a stamped or washi tape sentiment and embellishments. The banners create visual interest and dimension.

Step by step

1. Take your second coloured floral card and use scissors to cut small V-shaped notches into the bottom edge to create banner tails. ▶ watch 34:30
2. Cut the first banner tail by cutting a V into the centre of one strip. ▶ watch 34:45
3. Cut the second banner tail slightly higher than the first, creating different heights for visual interest. ▶ watch 35:00
4. Cut a third banner tail with a different height again, so you have three banners of varying lengths. ▶ watch 35:15
5. Layer a piece of black cardstock as your base, then adhere your banner pieces on top at different heights using foam pads and single pads to create dimension. ▶ watch 36:00
6. Add a stamped 'Thank You' sentiment or washi tape sentiment to the card. ▶ watch 37:45
7. Add pearl embellishments into the floral bouquets, placing them sparingly to avoid overwhelming the design. ▶ watch 39:30
8. Add gem embellishments around the sentiment area in groups of three for balance. ▶ watch 41:00

Tips from the show

• You can wrap twine around the banner tails if desired.
• There are no rules—you can arrange the banners however you like and leave spaces as you wish.
• Use foam pads for some banners and single pads for others to create varying levels of dimension.
