Layered Card with Colour Wash Halo Effect

Create a soft, dimensional effect by adding a blended colour wash around one of your stamped floral panels. This technique uses a blending brush to create a lovely soft halo that transitions from colour to white, making the design appear to float.

Step by step

1. Take one of your coloured floral cards and select a blending brush. ▶ watch 25:30
2. Pick up ink from your chosen colour pad on the blending brush. ▶ watch 25:45
3. Apply the colour around the edges of the floral design in a circular motion, creating a soft halo effect that radiates outward. ▶ watch 26:00
4. Blend the colour so it gradually fades from the darker shade at the edges to light at the outer edges, creating an ombre effect. ▶ watch 26:15
5. Make the colour slightly darker at the base of the design if desired, creating subtle variation without overwhelming the design. ▶ watch 26:30

Tips from the show

• The blending creates a lovely soft halo that makes the design appear three-dimensional and floating on the card.
• You can create an ombre effect from dark to light if you prefer a more pronounced gradient.
