Watercolour Background with Reactive Ink Pads

A demonstration of the unique water-reactive properties of the new ink pads. By spraying water onto inked areas, the colours pull out to lighter shades, creating beautiful textured watercolour effects with organic, flowing patterns.

Step by step

1. Apply several colours of ink pad directly onto white card stock, using light taps to deposit colour. ▶ watch 36:00
2. Allow the ink to dry slightly so the colours begin to lighten naturally. ▶ watch 36:30
3. Spray water generously onto your hand to create a large puddle. ▶ watch 38:15
4. Apply the water-soaked hand or spray water directly onto the inked card to activate the reactive properties. ▶ watch 38:30
5. Watch as the colours pull out to lighter shades, creating texture and movement across the card. ▶ watch 39:00
6. Dab gently with tissue to remove excess water and help blend the colours further. ▶ watch 39:30

Tips from the show

• The ink pads are water reactive like no other and create beautiful textured effects when water is applied.
• A little ink goes a long way with these pads, so use light taps rather than heavy pressure.
