Curtain Backdrop Card with Ice Cream Character

Create a dimensional card using the Yum Chums paper to make a curtain backdrop effect. The card features a cute ice cream character positioned in front of draped curtains, giving a theatrical spotlight effect that makes the character the focal point.

Step by step

  1. Cut the Yum Chums paper into strips to create the curtain effect, measuring 6¾ by 5 inches to fit perfectly on your card base. ▶ watch 33:00
  2. Mount the curtain strips onto a piece of card so they overlap without showing any edges. ▶ watch 33:15
  3. Apply sticky pads to the back of the curtain pieces to give them dimension and lift them away from the card. ▶ watch 34:45
  4. Stamp the ice cream character onto white card using the Yum Chums stamp set. ▶ watch 35:30
  5. Colour the ice cream character using pale colours and watercolour techniques to add shading and depth. ▶ watch 39:00
  6. Cut out the coloured character and mount it onto black card. ▶ watch 39:15
  7. Position the character in front of the curtain backdrop to create the spotlight effect. ▶ watch 39:30
  8. Add a sentiment stamp to complete the card. ▶ watch 39:45
