Positivity Embossed Card with Watercolour Technique

A card using the Positivity embossing folder with a peony or rose design. You emboss the design on white cardstock and then enhance it with watercolour painting and a dry brush technique with gold to create texture and dimension.

You will need

Step by step

1. Insert white cardstock into the Positivity embossing folder. ▶ watch 0:15
2. Run the embossing folder through your die-cutting machine. ▶ watch 0:30
3. Remove the embossed card to reveal the beautiful chamfered frame around the design. ▶ watch 1:00
4. Pick up a watercolour brush and paint the embossed flowers with watercolour paint to add colour and detail. ▶ watch 1:30
5. Use a dry brush technique with gold paint or gilding wax, brushing it over the embossed areas to highlight the detail. ▶ watch 1:45
6. Allow the paint to dry completely before mounting the card or adding further embellishments. ▶ watch 2:00

Tips from the show

• The embossed detail is so prominent on white cardstock that you can see it beautifully without any additional colouring.
• You can put pattern papers or any design behind the frame window for different effects.
• The chamfered frame gives you that lovely mounted artwork effect.
