Dual-Coloured Embossed Card with Ink Pad Technique

Create a striking card by inking both sides of the embossing folder with different colours before running it through your machine. This produces a two-toned embossed background where you can choose to display either the embossed or debossed side depending on your preference.

Step by step

1. Remove the die from the embossing folder and set it aside. ▶ watch 50:45
2. Swipe a teal or first-choice ink pad across one side of the embossing folder, covering all the raised areas. ▶ watch 51:00
3. Lightly spray the inked folder with water if desired for a softer effect. ▶ watch 51:15
4. Flip the folder over and swipe a purple or contrasting colour ink pad across the other side. ▶ watch 51:30
5. Insert a piece of card stock into the inked embossing folder. ▶ watch 51:45
6. Run the folder through your die-cutting machine on the appropriate setting. ▶ watch 52:00
7. Remove the card and trim it to size. ▶ watch 52:15
8. Decide which side (embossed or debossed) you prefer and mount it accordingly on your card base. ▶ watch 52:30

Tips from the show

• You can choose to display either the embossed or debossed side depending on which colour and effect you prefer.
• If you don't like the result, you can run the card back through the folder to refresh the embossing.
• This technique works beautifully for creating wreath designs where you can see detail from both front and back.
