Layered Card with Stencil Background and Ephemera

Build a sophisticated card by combining a stencilled lavender background with fussy-cut ephemera elements and stamped sentiments. This project demonstrates how to layer pre-made elements to create dimension and visual interest.

Step by step

1. Prepare your stencilled lavender background card as the base layer. ▶ watch 9:45
2. Mount the stencilled background onto a 7 by 7 inch card blank, optionally edging it with ink. ▶ watch 10:00
3. Fussy cut several ephemera elements including envelopes and decorative pieces. ▶ watch 10:15
4. Stamp a sentiment such as 'Congratulations' onto one of the ephemera pieces using a stamp set. ▶ watch 10:30
5. Arrange the fussy-cut elements on the card, offsetting some pieces to create dimension. ▶ watch 10:45
6. Glue the ephemera pieces in place, building up layers on one side of the card. ▶ watch 11:00
7. Add additional fussy-cut embellishments such as butterflies or floral elements to fill the design. ▶ watch 11:15
8. Optionally add sparkle or other embellishments to highlight key elements. ▶ watch 11:30

Tips from the show

• You can create tabs and formations underneath your artwork by layering ephemera pieces.
• Don't hide your main focal point—arrange elements so the lavender background remains visible.
• Everything you create for a mini album or box can be adapted and applied to a card instead.
