Christmas Card with Joy Word Die and Poinsettia Embellishments

A festive Christmas card featuring the Joy word die cut in white with a poinsettia flower embellishment placed in the centre O. The card uses coordinating patterned paper in warm autumn tones with red and brown undertones, creating an elegant seasonal design.

Step by step

1. Cut a piece of patterned paper from the Tailored Threads paper pad in warm autumn tones as your card base. ▶ watch 1:10:00
2. Cut the Joy word die from white cardstock. ▶ watch 1:10:15
3. Apply a drop shadow to the back of the Joy word die using black cardstock for added dimension. ▶ watch 1:12:15
4. Adhere the Joy word die to the upper portion of your patterned paper card base. ▶ watch 1:13:00
5. Cut a poinsettia flower from red cardstock using the largest size from the gradient of sizes available. ▶ watch 1:14:30
6. Position the poinsettia flower in the centre of the O in the Joy word. ▶ watch 1:15:00
7. Add coordinating foliage pieces around the poinsettia to complete the festive cluster. ▶ watch 1:15:30

Tips from the show

• You don't always need a drop shadow; sometimes a clean, simple design is just as effective.
• The O's in the word dies are large enough to accommodate flowers or other embellishments inside them without needing to use the brooch elements.
• You can use different sized poinsettias from the gradient to create varied designs.
