Step by step

  1. Cut a piece of cream card stock and a piece of craft-coloured card stock to size for your card base and mat layer. ▶ watch 17:45
  2. Position your cream card stock and hold it in place, then randomly stamp sentiment words from your stamp set across the surface using a sticky ink pad. ▶ watch 18:30
  3. Move the card stock to different positions and stamp the same words again in overlapping locations to create a layered background effect. ▶ watch 19:00
  4. Dust the stamped surface with white embossing powder, tapping away excess, then heat set with a heat gun until the powder melts and becomes glossy. ▶ watch 19:45
  5. Place brown ink on a craft mat, spray with water to create a puddle, then drop your card stock into the inky water to create a watercolour effect around the stamped words. ▶ watch 24:45
  6. Add blue ink to another area of the mat and drop the card in again to layer additional colour, creating a moody sky effect. ▶ watch 27:00
  7. Soften any harsh lines by gently splotting with your finger to blend the colours together. ▶ watch 29:45
  8. Use a blending brush with brown ink to add texture and colour around the edges of the card stock. ▶ watch 31:45
  9. Cut a circle die from cream card stock and position it on your inked background, then stamp a sentiment such as 'Congratulations' onto the circle using sticky ink pad and white embossing powder. ▶ watch 40:00
  10. Heat set the embossed sentiment, then edge the circle with a black ink pad using a blending brush to add definition. ▶ watch 45:30
  11. Adhere the embossed circle plaque to your card, positioning it half on and half off the edge to create dimension. ▶ watch 47:30
  12. Decorate a coordinating envelope by cutting a strip of patterned paper and layering it with a cream border, then add a cream circle with a drop shadow effect. ▶ watch 48:00
