A project from our live show Brand Showcase in the HTCN studios - THIRSTY BRUSH - broadcast Friday 25th Feb 22 · 25/02/2022
Create a multi-layered textured background using a jelly plate, stencils, and paint rollers. Layer different coloured paints and stencil patterns to build up a unique, vibrant background with both positive and negative print effects.
Squeeze a small amount of mixed blue and red nature paint onto your jelly plate.
Place the Masonry stencil on top of the wet paint on the jelly plate.
Remove the paint from inside the stencil using a squeegee or scraper, leaving the stencil in place.
Take a print by pressing paper onto the stencil and jelly plate, then peel away to reveal the first layer.
Add a bright neon orange acrylic paint to a clean section of the jelly plate.
Roll a textured roller across the orange paint to pick up colour.
Roll the textured roller over the top of the stencil that is still on the jelly plate.
Carefully lift off the stencil to reveal the layered print with both positive and negative effects.
Allow the print to dry completely before adding any further layers.
Add a final layer of white acrylic paint to the jelly plate and take another print to create additional texture and depth.
