A project from our live show BRAND SHOWCASE - Join Sarah Gray from Funky Fossil - broadcast 8th April · 08/04/2022
An elegant card using white heat embossing as a resist technique, revealing a delicate floral image when ink is applied over the top. The design combines blended distress inks with watercolour pencil shading for subtle depth and variation.
Heat emboss the delicate floral stamp image in white onto white watercolour card stock.
Using a large blending brush, apply chip sapphire or deep blue distress ink over the embossed image.
Wipe away the ink from the surface with a kitchen towel to reveal the white embossed line art underneath.
While the ink is still wet, use a water brush to lift some colour back out and create variation in the shading.
Add dark blue shading using inktense watercolour pencils to create depth in the floral design.
Ink the delicate floral stencil from the bundle onto white card stock using salvaged patina in a tone-on-tone technique.
Die-cut the peony element from the floral die and layer it under the stencilled background.
Mount the completed embossed and coloured image onto the stencilled card base.
