White Shaped Heart Card with Coloured Flower Detail

Create an elegant white-on-white shaped card using nesting dies to form a heart aperture. The card features a coloured flower design with watercolour pencils and sparkle embellishments, perfect for weddings or special occasions.

Step by step

1. Cut two of the largest nesting dies from your set out of white card stock. ▶ watch 17:30
2. Score across the top of one of the cut pieces to create the card fold. ▶ watch 17:45
3. Glue the two largest die-cut pieces together by applying adhesive around the edges and pressing firmly. ▶ watch 18:00
4. Cut additional die-cut pieces from the coordinating die set to create layered embellishments, cutting multiple copies for dimension. ▶ watch 20:45
5. Build up the flower embellishment by gluing two die-cut pieces together, then adding a third layer on top. ▶ watch 23:00
6. Colour the flower centre using watercolour pencils or sparkle pens, working into the crevices with pink, orange and green tones. ▶ watch 25:00
7. Glue the coloured and layered flower embellishment onto the card base. ▶ watch 28:15
8. Cut a smaller nesting die to create an aperture window, then run the centre piece through an embossing folder. ▶ watch 36:00
9. Glue the aperture layer flat onto the card, then position the embossed centre piece into the window recess. ▶ watch 38:15
10. Mount the complete layered design onto foam pads and position off-centre on the card front. ▶ watch 40:30
11. Embellish with small gem stones or sequins around the flower and card edges for sparkle. ▶ watch 42:00

Tips from the show

• If you don't want to colour, you can paper piece with coloured card stock instead, cutting the design in different colours and layering them back in.
• White-on-white cards work beautifully with white embossing folders in the background for added texture.
• Don't worry if your colouring goes over the lines initially—the top layer will hide any imperfections and make the design look crisp and clean.
