Hanging Basket Card with Coloured Pot and Flowers

Create a layered card featuring a hand-coloured hanging basket with pot and flowers. This card tells a story of a peaceful sanctuary with dimension and depth, using die-cut elements arranged on patterned paper backgrounds.

Step by step

  1. Die-cut the hanging basket shapes from cream card stock using the Perfect Pots die set, cutting multiple pieces including the three hanging formations and base layers. ▶ watch 47:00
  2. Die-cut the pot shapes and foliage elements from cream card, noting that the base layers are different to create dimension when stacked. ▶ watch 50:15
  3. Select a patterned paper from the Summer Sanctuary collection and die-cut using the Stitch Rectangle waste-free die to create your card base layer. ▶ watch 55:30
  4. Choose a second patterned paper with a scene (such as a chair and window) and die-cut using the same or complementary waste-free die shape. ▶ watch 56:30
  5. Colour the pot piece using alcohol markers or watercolour pens, shading from the edges towards the centre to create a circular, three-dimensional effect. ▶ watch 1:00:15
  6. Colour the foliage and flower pieces using green and orange alcohol markers or pens, adding depth with different shades. ▶ watch 1:02:30
  7. Glue the coloured pot onto the hanging basket piece, then add the foliage and flower embellishments on top using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 1:06:00
  8. Layer the patterned papers onto the cream card base, positioning the hanging basket in the upper area of the card. ▶ watch 1:07:30
  9. Attach the coloured hanging basket assembly to the card front using foam pads to create lift and dimension. ▶ watch 1:08:15
  10. Add the individual flower pieces around the basket, layering them at different heights for a full, realistic appearance. ▶ watch 1:09:00
