Spray Ink Layered Background

Create vibrant, multi-layered backgrounds by spraying different coloured inks onto cardstock, tilting to distribute, and layering additional colours. Water can be used to dilute sprays for softer effects.

Step by step

1. Spray the first colour generously onto cardstock. ▶ watch 32:00
2. Tilt the cardstock to distribute the spray ink across the surface. ▶ watch 32:15
3. Allow the first colour to dry slightly (a few minutes). ▶ watch 32:30
4. Spray a second colour over the first, creating colour blending and variation. ▶ watch 33:00
5. Tilt again to distribute the second colour. ▶ watch 33:15
6. Optional: spray water over the wet inks and tilt to create lighter, more subtle effects. ▶ watch 33:45
7. Optional: apply a third colour for additional depth and interest. ▶ watch 34:00
8. Allow the background to dry completely before using for card making. ▶ watch 34:30

Tips from the show

• Diluting spray inks with water creates softer, more subtle colour effects.
