Swan Lake Reflection Card with Heat Embossed Swans

Create a romantic swan scene using heat embossing and layered stamping to build a complete water reflection composition. The card features white embossed swans with coloured water reflections and sparkle accents for a magical, artistic finish.

Step by step

1. Stamp the swan reflection stamp onto funky fossil watercolour paper using white embossing powder. ▶ watch 31:15
2. Heat set the embossing powder with a heat gun until it melts and becomes glossy. ▶ watch 32:00
3. Cut two swan shapes from white card stock ahead of time. ▶ watch 33:30
4. Add subtle shading to the white swans using a blue or grey copper infusion ink around the neck and edges to create dimension. ▶ watch 33:45
5. Adhere the coloured swans flat onto the embossed background. ▶ watch 34:30
6. Stamp the water element from the set below the swans to create the reflection area. ▶ watch 35:00
7. Stamp additional foliage elements in black ink around the swans to build the scene. ▶ watch 36:00
8. Stamp the moon element into the reflection area using a lighter ink colour. ▶ watch 37:30
9. Frame the design with the stylized square stencil, adding black ink through it for depth. ▶ watch 39:00
10. Spray pearly wing infusion spray over the entire card multiple times to add sparkle and shimmer. ▶ watch 43:30
11. Add white gel pen highlights to the moon halo and key details. ▶ watch 44:15
12. Adhere a sentiment stamp to the card and mount onto black card stock. ▶ watch 44:45

Tips from the show

• Use the stencil as a full entity or just parts of it—there are no rules, be creative.
• The foliage and brush elements from the stamp sets can be used independently as background elements.
• You can use the reflection stamps from different sets interchangeably to create varied compositions.
