4x4x4 Gift Box with Hook and Eye Closure

A quick-to-make gift box perfect for holding small items like ties, socks, cosmetics or perfume bottles. The box features a clever hook and eye locking system that requires no glue, and can be made from a single 12x12 sheet of cardstock.

Step by step

  1. Take a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and position it on your box board tool, aligning it to the XL line and diagonal line XL as marked. ▶ watch 1:20:30
  2. Score down the first line, then punch along the XL marking. ▶ watch 1:20:45
  3. Continue scoring and punching down the sheet, then repeat the process all the way across horizontally. ▶ watch 1:21:00
  4. Locate the small triangular recesses on the sheet and punch these out as well to create the locking mechanism. ▶ watch 1:22:15
  5. Turn the sheet over and line up the score lines, then punch again to complete the recesses on the reverse side. ▶ watch 1:22:30
  6. Pinch up the sides of the sheet gently to help it come together more easily. ▶ watch 1:23:30
  7. Bring up all four sides and hook the eye system together by inserting the claw clasp from one side into the corresponding slot on the adjacent side. ▶ watch 1:24:45
  8. Give each corner a good pinch and score to ensure the box holds its shape properly. ▶ watch 1:25:30
