Watercolour Lamination Flower Card with Gold Accents

A project from our live show MY PODCAST - Catch my latest updates broadcast 12th January 2026 · 12/01/2026 · watch it from 31:00

Create a beautiful painted-effect card using a two-part lamination stamp system. You'll build up watercolour-style layers with ink pads and water spray, then add metallic gold details and a black outline stamp to create a realistic, hand-painted flower design.

Step by step

  1. Take the solid (coloured) part of the lamination stamp and position it on watercolour card stock, slightly off to the side to leave room for a sentiment. ▶ watch 32:00
  2. Apply pink ink pad to the flower head areas of the stamp by tapping the corner of the pad onto the design. ▶ watch 33:45
  3. Add purple ink to the middle of the flowers to create colour blending and depth. ▶ watch 34:00
  4. Apply green ink pad to all the leaf areas of the design. ▶ watch 34:15
  5. Spray the inked stamp two or three times with a spray bottle filled with water to allow the colours to blend and bleed naturally. ▶ watch 35:00
  6. While the card is still wet, apply metallic gold watercolour paint to the centre of the flowers using a brush to add shimmer and dimension. ▶ watch 35:30
  7. Optional: paint additional gold leaves freehand using the toe-belly-toe brush technique (tip of brush, belly, back to tip) to enhance the design. ▶ watch 37:00
  8. Allow the card to dry completely, then take the outline (detail) part of the lamination stamp and line it up carefully over the coloured base. ▶ watch 38:00
  9. Stamp the outline portion using a black ink pad, accepting that perfect alignment is not necessary as the freehand effect adds to the artistic look. ▶ watch 41:15
  10. Apply gold embossing powder to the stamped outline and heat set it to make the details pop from the page. ▶ watch 42:45
  11. Add a sentiment stamp to complete the card, then mount onto a background of your choice. ▶ watch 43:00
