Festive Journal Page with Stamped Dragon

Create a magical festive journal page by stamping a detailed dragon design into an A5 journal and adding hand-drawn details with coloured pen. This produces an intricate, delicate illustration perfect for seasonal journaling.

Step by step

1. Open your A5 journal to a fresh page. ▶ watch 13:00
2. Ink up your festive dragon stamp with dye-based black ink. ▶ watch 13:15
3. Press the stamp firmly onto the journal page and hold it down to ensure a clear impression. ▶ watch 13:30
4. Lift the stamp away carefully to reveal the stamped image. ▶ watch 14:00
5. Use a red pen to add highlights and details to the dragon's dress and gown, emphasizing the lights in the design. ▶ watch 16:15
6. Add any additional pen details you wish to enhance the magical elements of the image. ▶ watch 16:30
7. Leave the page to dry, or proceed to add watercolour, sentiments or further embellishments as desired. ▶ watch 20:30

Tips from the show

• The journal paper is rag-based and will carry lots of water, acrylics, and glitter paste, so you can layer multiple mediums.
• You can mask off elements like the lamp and use just the magical tree sketch if you prefer a different composition.
• The stamps are hand-drawn to size with pen and paper, so each impression is organic and unique.
