Slimline Card with Stamped Background and Decoupaged Bouquet

A slimline card featuring a stamped floral background with a fussy-cut decoupaged lady and bouquet. The design uses layered off-cuts as metallic accents down the side and includes hand-coloured details with sparkle embellishment and a sentiment.

Step by step

1. Create a background panel by stamping the bouquet image repeatedly in light grey ink, positioning stamps both on and off the page in a subtle, scattered pattern down the panel. ▶ watch 10:00
2. Stamp the lady with bouquet image in black ink onto a separate piece of card. ▶ watch 13:15
3. Fussy cut around the bouquet, removing the bag and loose elements. Don't aim for perfection; cut away what you can easily reach and leave intricate areas intact. ▶ watch 14:45
4. Cut strips of coloured cardstock off-cuts into one-inch-wide pieces of varying lengths to create a decorative border. ▶ watch 17:30
5. Glue the off-cut strips vertically down the centre and sides of your stamped background panel, spacing them evenly. ▶ watch 18:00
6. Cut a thin sliver of metallic cardstock and glue it to the back edge of your stamped panel to frame it with colour. ▶ watch 22:00
7. Glue the fussy-cut lady and bouquet flat onto the card base. ▶ watch 23:30
8. Create 3D padding by cutting small wedges from spare cardstock and layering them behind the bouquet and bag elements for dimension. ▶ watch 25:00
9. Add pink watercolour or ink to selected flower areas by pouncing colour into the design, keeping it balanced across the bouquet. ▶ watch 29:00
10. Apply glue spots to selected areas and sprinkle with sparkle embellishment on the leaves and base of the bouquet. ▶ watch 31:00
11. Stamp or write a 'Thank You' sentiment on white card and glue it to the right side of the card, positioning it over or beside the bouquet. ▶ watch 32:15

Tips from the show

• Don't be precious about fussy cutting; do your best and if you get a nasty white edge, fill it in with watercolour.
• If you don't have foam pads, create your own by cutting wedges from spare cardstock and stacking them for dimension.
• Use your off-cuts and fingerprinted cards to build up padding and borders rather than wasting them.
