A project from our live show ANYTHING GOES - Join Toni for the show where you decide what happens - Broadcast 22nd Feb 23 · 22/02/2023 · watch it from 7:00

Create a beautiful slimline card featuring a daisy flower with a stained glass window effect using the layering stencil and stamp system. The design uses multiple stencil layers to build up colour and detail, creating a dimensional frame around the flower with optional embellishments.

Step by step

  1. Trim your card stock to a 5 by 7 size, then trim away excess to create a slimline format. ▶ watch 8:00
  2. Locate stencil number one and position it on your card, ensuring the number faces you. ▶ watch 8:15
  3. Apply yellow ink through the stencil using a brush, creating spots and a halo effect around the flower area. ▶ watch 8:30
  4. Find stencil number two and position it on a second card panel in the same way. ▶ watch 10:00
  5. Use no line or very faint grey ink to stencil the daisy, creating the appearance of a white flower. ▶ watch 14:00
  6. Find stencil number three and position it for the flower centre. ▶ watch 15:30
  7. Apply yellow ink lightly all over the centre, then add darker yellow at the base to create a gradient effect. ▶ watch 16:00
  8. Ensure the light spot appears on the same side of the flower for consistency. ▶ watch 17:00
  9. Place the coordinating die-cut stamp on top of your stencilled panel and stamp in black ink to add detail. ▶ watch 19:00
  10. Use the cheat technique: pop your die-cut piece back into the die space, hold it with a magnet, then stamp on top so the frame doesn't move. ▶ watch 20:00
  11. Carefully snip away the flower element from the stained glass frame if desired. ▶ watch 22:00
  12. Layer the stencilled panels together using foam pads for dimension, then add a sentiment using washi tape or stamps. ▶ watch 26:00
