Colourful Paper Strip Accent Card

A contemporary card using diagonal strips cut from vibrant Thirsty Brush papers in contrasting colours. The strips are layered and overlapped to create visual interest and texture, with a modern, mixed media aesthetic.

Step by step

1. Select a sheet from the Thirsty Brush paper pad with a bold, colourful design. ▶ watch 35:30
2. Cut the paper along the diagonal to create strips of varying widths. ▶ watch 36:15
3. Arrange the strips on the card, overlapping them at different angles for visual interest. ▶ watch 36:30
4. Glue the strips down, ensuring they overlap to create depth and dimension. ▶ watch 37:00
5. Add additional strips in contrasting colours, cutting some in the opposite direction to vary the look. ▶ watch 38:00
6. Position a sentiment in an open area to complete the design. ▶ watch 38:30

Tips from the show

• Cut strips in opposite directions to create visual variety and prevent a uniform appearance.
• Overlap the strips generously to build up texture and create a mixed media effect.
