About SUBSTRATES

Tim Holtz Idea-ology Substrates are designed for crafters who love to build, layer and construct with mixed media materials. Whether you're making cards, scrapbook layouts or decorative pieces, these substrates give you a solid foundation to work with.

In this category you'll find items like window boxes and other structural elements that let you create depth and dimension in your projects. Many crafters use substrates like these to build shadow boxes, add architectural interest to cards, or create display pieces that really stand out from the page.

When choosing substrates, think about the overall look you're after—do you want something that becomes a feature in its own right, or a backdrop for your other embellishments? It's also worth considering how you'll decorate your substrate. These pieces work beautifully with paints, inks, stamps and mixed media techniques, so choose products that suit your preferred crafting style and the theme of your project.
