A project from our live show CATCH UP with Simon for a 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL in the HTCN studio broadcast 29th Nov 21 · 29/11/2021
A vibrant celebration card featuring a tiered cake with glitter icing drips and a number one topper. The starburst stencil background in bright colours creates a festive party atmosphere perfect for anniversaries or first birthdays.
Place the starburst stencil on your card layer and work from the outer edge inward with watercolour pencils, starting with the lightest colour first.
Add a second colour (orange) to highlight some areas of the starburst, allowing colours to blend slightly.
Add a third colour (teal or purple) to the remaining corner, blending it gently with the existing colours.
Select one star and accent it with a contrasting colour to bring a third colour into the overall design.
Glue the stencilled background layer onto a purple card border to frame the design.
Cut three tiered cake pieces in contrasting colours (purple, blue, orange) and stamp each with the background star pattern using matching ink.
Cut silver glitter strips and fussy cut them into irregular icing dribbles of varying heights.
Glue the silver dribbles onto each cake tier, starting with the largest tier at the base using three foam pads for height.
Stack the remaining cake tiers using two foam pads on the middle tier and one pad on the top tier.
Cut and fussy cut a number one from matching card stock and glue it to the top of the cake.
Add paper piercing details such as small dots and a heart to the elephant character for definition.
