A project from our live show Stamping Techniques - Bleaching Effects - Colour Blending - Stamping Techniques 22ND Dec 21 · 22/12/2021
Create a striking card using the Butterfly Chain stamp set with a purple halo background, stamped design elements positioned half on and half off the page, and a bleaching water effect for texture. The finished card features layered cardstock and sparkle accents for a shimmery, dimensional look.
Take a piece of white cardstock as your base.
Using a blending brush, apply purple ink to the centre of the card in a light, circular motion to create a halo effect.
Build up the colour gradually, working from the centre outwards and extending towards the top of the card.
Ink up the smaller butterfly chain stamp completely.
Position the stamp so it sits half on the card and half off the edge, then press down firmly to create the design on the corner.
Re-ink the stamp and repeat the half on, half off technique down the other side of the card, catching more of the design this time.
Ink up the large sentiment stamp in black ink.
Stamp the sentiment straight into the centre of the card.
Using a clean brush with water, add water splats across the design to create a bleaching effect that lifts colour from the cardstock.
Dry the card quickly with a heat gun, removing any excess water as you go.
Add sparkle or shimmer to the butterfly wings and floral elements so they catch the light.
Layer the finished design onto a matching aubergine-toned cardstock base and adhere it to complete the card.
