Step by step

  1. Place your card stock on the die cutting machine plate and position the butterfly frame die on top. ▶ watch 9:00
  2. Run the die through your machine, listening for the normal cranking and cracking sounds. ▶ watch 9:15
  3. If the die hasn't cut through completely, lightly spray the card stock with water from a spray bottle to hydrate the fibres. ▶ watch 10:00
  4. Reposition the die on the dampened card stock, ensuring it clicks back into place, and run it through the machine again. ▶ watch 11:15
  5. Carefully remove the die and peel away the card stock to reveal all the cut butterfly pieces. ▶ watch 13:15
  6. Option 1: Leave the butterflies in place and glue only the bodies down, then gently fold up the wings for a raised effect. ▶ watch 14:00
  7. Option 2: Pop out all the butterflies as individual pieces and paper piece them back in using different coloured card stocks. ▶ watch 14:15
  8. Mount the finished frame onto your card base, which works beautifully on a 5x7 card. ▶ watch 14:30
