Gnome Wedding Card with Layered MDF and Markers

A whimsical wedding card featuring bride and groom gnome MDF pieces decorated with glitter markers and layered onto a card base with maps and sentiment. This project showcases how to combine different craft mediums—wood, card, and markers—to create a charming mixed-media design.

Step by step

1. Prepare your card base and layer decorative papers or maps as background elements. ▶ watch 43:15
2. Select the bride and groom gnome MDF pieces from the collection. ▶ watch 43:30
3. Colour the groom gnome's hat using a glitter marker or acrylic pen in your chosen colour. ▶ watch 43:45
4. Add additional details to both gnome pieces using glitter markers, such as highlights or decorative accents. ▶ watch 44:00
5. Apply glitter or sparkly embellishments to the gnome pieces for extra glamour. ▶ watch 44:15
6. Adhere the decorated gnome pieces to your layered card base using strong adhesive. ▶ watch 44:45
7. Add a 'Congratulations' sentiment stamp or sticker to complete the wedding card design. ▶ watch 45:00

Tips from the show

• Take your time when decorating MDF pieces—the studio demonstration was quick, but you can be more careful at home.
• Mixed media simply means combining different craft elements together, such as wood, card, and markers.
• If you are new to mixed media, this project is an excellent starting point using materials you may already have in your craft stash.
