A project from our live show Brand Showcase in the HTCN studios - AVAGO INK - broadcast Friday 25th Feb 22 · 25/02/2022
A striking card featuring a distressed ink background in mustard and blueprint creating a sunset effect, topped with a pagoda landscape silhouette die-cut. The design uses water-reactive distress inks to create organic, lifted colour effects that frame the oriental architecture.
Mask off the top half of your card blank with masking tape to protect it from ink.
Load a blending tool with mustard seed distress ink and circle it gently in the centre of the exposed area.
Build up the mustard colour by dabbing gently and fading it outward toward the edges.
Spray water droplets onto the inked area to create lifting and reactive effects.
Place a piece of kitchen towel on top of the wet ink to mop up excess water and create texture.
Remove the kitchen towel and allow the ink to dry slightly.
Apply blueprint sketch distress ink around the edges and over parts of the mustard to add depth and contrast.
Run the pagoda die through your die-cutting machine with the inked cardstock.
Position the die-cut pagoda silhouette over the distressed background.
Glue the pagoda die-cut securely to the card base.
Trim any excess cardstock from the edges using scissors, cutting from the reverse side to avoid overlap.
Stamp a sentiment onto the card to complete the design.
