Glitter Paste Stencilled Stars on White Card

A quick demonstration of how to use glitter paste through stencils to create sparkly textured designs. The paste dries clear to reveal brilliant glitter that pops on the card, perfect for adding instant shimmer to any project.

Step by step

1. Secure your stencil to your card base using the stencil tape or a strong adhesive like Eureka. ▶ watch 20:45
2. Take a pea-sized amount of glitter paste on your palette knife—less is more, as a small amount goes a long way. ▶ watch 21:30
3. Scrape the paste through the stencil openings using a butter-on-toast motion, ensuring full coverage in the gaps. ▶ watch 21:45
4. Pat down the paste gently as you go to ensure it fills all the stencil spaces evenly. ▶ watch 22:15
5. Close your glitter paste pot immediately and wipe any excess from the palette knife with kitchen roll to avoid contaminating other colours. ▶ watch 22:30
6. Apply additional colours of glitter paste over the top if desired, layering them for mixed colour effects. ▶ watch 22:45
7. Remove the stencil carefully and place it in water to clean off the paste immediately. ▶ watch 23:45
8. Allow the paste to dry naturally for three to five minutes, or use a heat gun to speed up the drying process and reveal the full sparkle. ▶ watch 24:00

Tips from the show

• You do not need a heat gun to dry the paste—it will dry naturally in the air, the heat gun simply speeds up the process.
• Clean your stencil straight away by placing it in water; the paste comes off easily with a gentle rub.
• The colours appear pale in the pot but become much brighter and more glittery once the glue dries clear.
