Layered Sentiment Card with Kind Friend Die

Create a striking card using the Kind Friend sentiment die with layered matting. The die features recessed lettering that creates dimension when layered with coordinating card colours, producing an elegant and impactful design.

Step by step

1. Die-cut the Kind Friend sentiment from patterned card stock using your die-cutting machine. ▶ watch 35:30
2. Tap out all the die-cut pieces carefully from the card. ▶ watch 36:00
3. Prepare layers of black card, white card, and patterned card stock for matting. ▶ watch 36:15
4. Adhere the patterned card layer to the black card base. ▶ watch 36:45
5. Position the white card layer on top of the patterned card. ▶ watch 37:00
6. Glue the Kind Friend die-cut sentiment onto the white layer, ensuring it sits flat. ▶ watch 37:15
7. Dip the die-cut into an ink pad to add shading and definition to the recessed areas. ▶ watch 37:45
8. Mount the completed layered design onto your card base. ▶ watch 38:30

Tips from the show

• The Kind Friend sentiment works beautifully white-on-white, which indicates it will work well on any colour combination.
• You can use the negative space from the die-cut as a stencil for additional design elements.
