Layered Floral 3D Card with Black Background

A striking black and white card featuring a fussy-cut layered flower design. The flower is built up in three decreasing sizes to create dimension, then mounted on a textured grey background with a black card base for contrast.

Step by step

1. Stamp a flower design onto white cardstock in black ink. ▶ watch 8:30
2. Fussy cut the flower centre out carefully. ▶ watch 8:45
3. Fussy cut the flower three times in decreasing sizes to create layers. ▶ watch 9:00
4. Glue the largest flower layer to a foam pad on the textured background. ▶ watch 9:15
5. Layer the medium-sized flower on top with a small amount of glue, teasing it up slightly for dimension. ▶ watch 9:30
6. Attach the smallest flower layer on top without padding. ▶ watch 9:45
7. Mount the complete layered flower onto a piece of black cardstock. ▶ watch 10:00
8. Stick the textured background piece onto a small pink card blank. ▶ watch 10:15
9. Die-cut the 'how old' sentiment from the die set, which cuts out hearts within the words. ▶ watch 10:30
10. Adhere the sentiment to the card as desired. ▶ watch 11:00

Tips from the show

• Build layers like a cake to create dimension without using multiple foam pads.
• You don't need pads under every layer; a small amount of glue can tease up the edges for a subtle 3D effect.
