A project from our live show CELEBRATING 1 MILLION VIEWS - Join Toni for an Exclusive new Launch in HTCH - Broadcast 13th May 22 · 13/05/2022 · watch it from 14:00

A clean and elegant shaker card featuring a delicate hummingbird die-cut with a frosted vellum window. Soft watercolour washes behind the aperture create a subtle hue, and pale sequins move gently inside the shaker element for a sophisticated, understated effect.

Step by step

  1. Tape two identical bird and foliage dies together on your magnetic mat, with one die placed inside the other to create a thin frame effect. ▶ watch 14:15
  2. Run the dies through your cutting machine to create two layered frames. ▶ watch 14:45
  3. Cut a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than your Slimline card base to use as a matte layer. ▶ watch 16:00
  4. Tape a bird die to white cardstock and cut out the hummingbird aperture design. ▶ watch 17:00
  5. Adhere vellum to the back of the white cardstock piece using tape and glue to create a frosted window effect. ▶ watch 20:30
  6. Apply soft watercolour ink washes to the back of the vellum in coordinating colours to create a subtle hue visible through the window. ▶ watch 22:00
  7. Add foam pads around the edges of the aperture window on the back side, leaving small gaps for sequins. ▶ watch 24:30
  8. Place pale sequins inside the shaker area, positioning them with a poke tool to avoid bunching the vellum. ▶ watch 27:15
  9. Adhere the layered die-cut frames on top of the white cardstock piece to create dimension and frame the design. ▶ watch 28:00
  10. Mount the completed shaker element onto your Slimline card base. ▶ watch 30:00
