Step by step

  1. Gather four pieces of 6x6 paper, preferably single-sided or plain designs you don't particularly like. ▶ watch 16:15
  2. Using a score tool or scoreboard, score the first piece at half an inch down one side. ▶ watch 18:15
  3. Move the paper along and score again at three and a quarter inches on the same side. ▶ watch 18:30
  4. Turn the paper clockwise and score at half an inch across the bottom edge. ▶ watch 19:30
  5. Score again at four and a half inches on this rotated side. ▶ watch 20:00
  6. Repeat the scoring process (half inch, three and a quarter, half inch, four and a half) on the remaining three pieces of 6x6 paper. ▶ watch 20:30
  7. On each scored piece, cut away the small corner square where the score lines meet. ▶ watch 26:00
  8. Cut away the top panel along the score line to create the pocket opening. ▶ watch 26:30
  9. Burnish all the score lines with a bone folder or scoring tool to create sharp creases. ▶ watch 27:00
  10. Fold each piece along all the score lines to create the accordion effect, alternating between valleys and peaks. ▶ watch 33:45
  11. Glue down the sides and base of each pocket piece to form the envelope-like pockets. ▶ watch 34:00
  12. Cut a strip of cardstock measuring 2.75 by 4 inches to serve as the connecting spine. ▶ watch 44:00
  13. Score this spine piece every half inch along its length to create accordion folds. ▶ watch 46:00
  14. Fold the spine back and forth along all score lines to create the rise and fall effect. ▶ watch 47:00
  15. Cut two pieces of cardstock at 2.75 by 4 inches for the front and back covers. ▶ watch 49:00
  16. Glue the front cover piece to the first peak of the accordion spine. ▶ watch 51:00
