A project from our live show MONDAY MADNESS - Join Simon from AVAGO-INK for his latest products - Broadcast 23rd May 22 · 23/05/2022 · watch it from 16:00

A more masculine, textured card using craft cardstock with a Caribbean blue spray base and glittery scale texture. The fish are stamped and inked with a lifted effect using cotton buds to create depth, making the fish appear to come forward without three-dimensional elements.

Step by step

  1. Cut a square of craft card and place it in a spray booth, then apply a light mist of Caribbean blue dye spray, allowing the craft card to show through. ▶ watch 16:30
  2. Dab some of the spray with a paper towel to remove depth in certain areas, creating a sea spray effect. ▶ watch 17:00
  3. Heat-dry the sprayed panel with a heat gun to speed up drying. ▶ watch 17:15
  4. Use the Stylish Scales die as a stencil and apply icing glitter texture paste around the corners and edges of the panel with a spatula. ▶ watch 17:45
  5. Stamp three fish images (large parent fish and small baby fish) onto a small square of white card using Versafine black ink. ▶ watch 19:30
  6. Blend a light blue ink pad over the stamped fish images using circular motions with an ink pad, starting gently. ▶ watch 21:30
  7. Layer a darker blue-black ink pad over the light blue to create a murky, deeper tone in patches across the fish. ▶ watch 22:00
  8. Dampen a cotton bud with water and gently lift ink from the fish images to create definition and make them appear to come forward. ▶ watch 23:30
  9. Use the cotton bud to lift ink from around the baby fish and between the larger fish to increase contrast. ▶ watch 24:00
  10. Tap a paintbrush lightly across the background to create ink splatters, then lift some of these splatters with a paper towel for added depth. ▶ watch 24:30
  11. Heat-dry the completed fish panel with a heat gun to set all inks. ▶ watch 26:15
  12. Mount the textured glitter panel onto a blue card layer using a tape runner, then mount this onto your card blank. ▶ watch 27:00
  13. Run the edges of the fish panel along a black ink pad to break up and define the cut edges. ▶ watch 28:30
  14. Tie craft twine into loops and adhere to the card with glue, positioning them to frame the main fish image. ▶ watch 29:00
  15. Mount the fish panel on top of the twine using foam pads for dimension. ▶ watch 30:00
  16. Stamp the 'Catch You Later' sentiment onto white card using black ink, then cut the words apart. ▶ watch 30:45
